CARBON OFFSETS
AIMING TO OFFSET CARBON EMISSIONS
A carbon offset is an action intended to compensate for the emission of carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere as a result of industrial or other human activity, especially when verified and purchased as part of a commercial program. Examples may include reforestation, building renewable energy, carbon-storing agricultural practices, and waste and landfill management. There is an opportunity to look at the feasibility, timing, and role that carbon offsets might play in achieving net zero emissions by 2050.
